The application of polyethylene wax (PE wax) in the field of PVC pipes, and the important application of PE wax in PVC processing. Compared with fatty acid lubricants, it does not have adverse effects on melt tension and Vicat softening point, and provides excellent anti adhesion and flow control effects. PE wax can be used to control melting in special processing methods. Even if added in large amounts, it can have good compatibility with other ingredients.
The role of polyethylene wax (PE wax) in PVC pipes:
1. PE wax is the only known excellent plastic lubricant that can provide both internal and external lubrication (demolding effect) while maintaining high transparency and having little effect on gelation.
2. In addition, the low volatility of PE wax is extremely important for rolling and vacuum degassing. PE wax, as an internal lubricant, has good compatibility with polymers. It plays a role in reducing the cohesion between polymer molecules inside the polymer, thereby improving the internal friction heat generation and fluidity of plastic melt.
3. The main function of PE wax as an external lubricant is to improve the friction between polymer melt and the hot metal surface of processing equipment. It has poor compatibility with polymers and is easy to migrate from the melt to the outside, so it can form a lubricating thin layer at the interface between plastic melt and metal.
The role of oxidized polyethylene wax (PE wax) in PVC is as follows:
1. Lubricants have a certain amount of carbonyl and hydroxyl groups in their molecular chains, and have good compatibility with fillers, pigments, and polar resins. Their high melting point and low viscosity promote good resin fluidity, relatively reducing the power consumption of resin mixing, reducing the adhesion between resin and molds, making them easy to demold, providing internal and external lubrication, and also having good anti-static properties.
2. Plasticization. High density oxidized polyethylene wax has a high melting point, which can increase the plasticization rate and improve the metal stripping ability in PVC.
3. Glossiness. High density oxidized polyethylene is an efficient external lubricant, which can endow the surface of products with high glossiness and smoothness during molding and demolding.
4. Dispersibility. The average particle size of high-density oxidized polyethylene wax is about 5 microns, and it is basically free of impurities. Has a narrow particle size distribution, uniform fineness, and can be dispersed together with pigments.
